Thoughts on the UK Supreme Court's recent Ruling concerning "The Definition of a Woman"

The first thing I thought, performing a cursory glance at the news, and seeing this ruling was coming later that day, was how horrible it must be to have your existence constantly poked and prodded as a piece of discussion. It must drive you insane. I knew already that this ruling, by very nature of being on the horizon, would not make the lives of Trans people better. The very fact that it was even being discussed meant the lives of Trans people once again being dragged into the spotlight. Some people like being constantly the topic of discussion, orbiting the culture like the sun, and what little I sadly know of Trans culture, Paris is Burning, Ru Paul's Drag Race, suggests that some of our Trans friends might like or feed off constantly being talked out, being in the limelight, being gawked at by deeply uncool, sad, stiff people who haven't freed their bodies or their minds. Although, I do understand that Trans culture, just like any culture, isn't this monolith. Trans people aren't this monolith. They, like any community, are this diverse, broad spectrum, and I while I might identify more with those who just want to shrink away and who want the whole world to stop being obsessed with them, the ones who get a kick out of being discussed like this are most likely very complex themselves. Who knows, it might indeed be a coping mechanism, so that even life's cruelties become for-an-audience routines just like life's greatest joys (drag shows, talent shows, pageants, etc; once again, I stress I don't know that much about Trans culture)?
The bottom line, though, is that this ruling by the UK Supreme court represents just another intrusion into the lives of the Trans community, people who just want to be accepted and left alone. I can't pretend to understand everything our Trans friends go through. It's none of my damn business. I will say that in my house and throughout my day-to-day life they will always be welcome. TRANS RIGHTS. TRANS RIGHTS. TRANS RIGHTS.
